Over 250,000 Japanese fans rush in every year, “Japan Expo Paris” (Japan Expo Paris) is the biggest Japanese event in Europe. The annual festival finally began on 7/11 in Paris, where enthusiasm is rising just before the Olympics. Over 100 artists gather at the 1,500-square-meter traditional Japanese culture pavilion “WABI SABI” produced by our corporation! I look back on 4 days filled with wonderful encounters and excitement.

Disseminating “Japan” with ten people in ten colors!

The largest pavilion “WABI SABI” at the Japan ExpoThis year's theme is “indigo”.
Decorated in themed colors, the pavilion was filled with 11,300 visitors, which is the highest record, surpassing 103,000 people last year, and enjoyed a wide variety of Japanese art, crafts, and performances. Total sales for 4 days also broke a record high of over 150% compared to last year! The results made me realize once again how much Japanese culture is loved.

A heart that can be understood through multilingualism and communication

At each artist's booth, you can find a variety of items, from traditional fields such as knobbles, mizubiki, and calligraphy to modern, yet somewhat Japanese, such as faux food and resin accessories. Everyone has different things that “stick” to visitors, young and old, who are full of individuality. At the booth, “I love this!” In order to convey, heartfelt communication was carried out, making full use of not only French, but also English spoken after a long absence and Japanese being studied.

Workshops that satisfy “I want to know more”

I am often surprised by the depth of knowledge and curiosity of French Japanese fans. I'm intrigued not only by the visual beauty of the work, but also by the production techniques. The workshops held at each booth were perfect activities to satisfy that “I want to try.” Interactions with each person have further deepened through the creation of the work.

A spectacular stage you can't see anywhere else!

The “WABI SABI Stage” is in front of the entrance to the pavilion. Here, every day, shamisen and kimono dances are performed, and performances full of originality that cannot be seen anywhere else in France are performed, and there are also fans who check the stage schedule first at the reception desk and go there every day.
The WABI SABI pavilion, which has an atmosphere that sets it apart from others, has further increased the level of attention.

The special guests are also thrilled!

On the first day, Shimokawa Makita, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to France, visited and words of encouragement regarding the dissemination of Japanese culture were sent from the WABI SABI stage to artists who went to France. Kumamon, which is very popular in France, is coming from Kumamoto Prefecture! In addition to performing a sharp dance as usual, they also collaborated with Myak Myak, who came to appeal for the 2025 Osaka Expo. It enlivened the stage.
