Japan Expo 2017: Europe's largest festival of Japanese culture to be held from 7/6 (Thu) to 9 (Sun)

This year, 2017, marks the 100th anniversary of Nippon Animation, which sparked the Japanese boom that continues to this day. Anime producer Maruyama Masao, who has been involved in the production of masterpieces “Astro Boy” and “The Ribbon Knight” from 1960 to 70, and the film “In This Corner of the World,” which caused a lot of buzz last year, was welcomed as an honorary advisor.
Also, as a special event, it was announced that the Japan Expo will be the first in the world to pre-screen the latest theatrical version of Pokémon, and the number of visitors is expected to greatly exceed the previous year.

Japanese culture currently drawing attention from around the world

The guest speaker, Yamada Hitoshi, Cultural Information Related Industries Section Chief, Commerce and Information Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said, “We recognize that Japan Expo played a major role in spreading Cool Japan in Europe. Japanese content is clearly increasing its presence around the world,” he said, and once again mentioned the extent of Japanese culture's transmission power and influence on the world.
