The manga event “Manga Barcelona” is held every December in Barcelona, Spain. In addition to manga and anime, we are also focusing on introducing Japanese culture such as Japanese cuisine and calligraphy. We received an enthusiastic offer from the organizer, and the Japanese culture pavilion “NAGOMI” produced by Japan Promotion appeared for the first time at the memorable 30th. Here's a look at 4 days full of new encounters!
Event name: 30th Manga Barcelona
Period: 2024/12/5 (Thu) to 12/8 (Sun)

The Japanese Culture Pavilion was greeted with great joy
As the name suggests, “Manga Barcelona” is an event organized around manga and anime content. Among them, “Nagomi ” appeared as the first full-scale Japanese culture pavilion. At first glance, it's a heterogeneous entity, but many Japanese fans seeking “real Japan” nurtured by pop culture say, “It's strange why there hasn't been a pavilion like this until now!” Every day, they came to the venue with excitement, and the cumulative number of visitors rose to 26,000.

Visitors fascinated by NAGOMI
The pavilion “NAGOMI” is located very close to the entrance of the venue and was developed side by side with the booths of many large companies, such as Nintendo and Japanese publishers. Every year, many people who attend events immediately notice this new presence, and are captivated by its high quality and uniqueness. Despite being a space of about 16 booths, which is by no means big, “everything is so fascinating that I can't get out of here!” There are also people who lament, and people who come to the checkout counter many times a day while saying, “This is the last time I'll do it.” It received rave reviews for “the quality is different from other booths” and “the best in Manga Barcelona.”

The pavilion was crowded with many Japanese fans from morning to night
When I hear Spain, I have a cheerful and bright image, but Barcelona people are actually close to Japanese people, as they are rather shy and like to get to the bottom of things. Apparently, even in Spanish, they say “(I spent too much money) starting tomorrow, it's white rice!” Castles were popular, and men also wore accessories, so there was a difference in “sticking” things from other European events. At NAGOMI, which captured the hearts of such visitors, voices were raised here and there, saying “Muibien (very nice)” and “cute,” and the artist's happy screams were also heard, saying, “It's sold out, and additional production is being made night after night.”

Stages, workshops, lectures... lots of events
There are 2 stages, large and small, in a separate hall from NAGOMI, and big guests such as Maki Otsuki and PSYCHIC FEVER appeared from Japan. The music and dance performances produced by Japan Promotion also really captured the hearts of the visitors, and the audience grew steadily with each passing session, showing great excitement. In the aisle connecting the hall, lectures with Japanese food tastings and workshops where people learned Japanese and were taught how to draw comics were also very popular, and it was an event where various people, from adults to children, were fully immersed in comics and the world of Japan throughout the day, and for 4 days depending on the person.

In response to this response, of course, we are planning to exhibit next year and beyond! I want to bring the enhanced pavilion “NAGOMI” to everyone in Barcelona, and I'm looking forward to it now.
