October is the “City of Art” in full bloom
Art exhibitions attracting international attention, such as the Miró exhibition (Grand Palais), the Jean-Michel Basquiat Grand Retrospective (Louis Vuitton Museum), the “Ando Tadao Challenge” exhibition (Pompidou Center), etc., and the world's largest contemporary art fair “FIAC,” etc., Paris in October is in the middle of autumn for art. Many art fans from all over Europe rush in, and the whole city is bustling.
In the midst of that,Art shoppingArtists active in Paris, gallerists, and art fans with a keen sense of aesthetics gathered at the Carrousel du Louvre, which was the setting for. In a sophisticated art space, many high-quality cultural exchanges through art have been realized.

More than 800 artists and galleries gathered for the event, which will be held for the 11th time this year.
VIPs active in the Parisian art world, such as art collectors, journalists, art critics, curators, and gallerists, visited the reception held on the first day of the exhibition. It was so successful that there was a long line at the reception desk when it opened.
While art discussions between artists and VIPs are blooming here and there, there are also media covering this event in the hall. Journalists interested in Japanese arts and culture visited the Japan Promotion booth for coverage over 3 days and strongly approached the appeal of the works and the energy of the artists.

The “Japanese sense of beauty” that Parisian art people also pay close attention to

This year, all 46 groups of artists from Japan Promotion exhibited, and they showed off a total of 137 unique works, from traditional calligraphy and Japanese paintings to cutouts and snack crafts that shine with craftsmanship, and even junk art that makes use of waste materials in a convenient location facing the main aisle.
There are also many visitors who stop and take time to appreciate the world view of works that make them feel a sense of beauty unique to Japan, and some of them say, “I feel that all of the art at the Japan Promotion Booth is calm and comfortable. There is also a woman who says, “I come here every year.”

Many business opportunities have been realized that anticipate success on the international stage
The diverse range of works attracted many visitors and led to actual sales and business opportunities leading to future success.
A woman working at the Japanese Embassy in Croatia said, “We are planning a cultural exchange event connecting Japan and Croatia. We would also like to realize collaborative art production by artists from both countries, so please join us!” A number of fulfilling results have been produced, such as a paper cutout artist who received an enthusiastic love call, a calligrapher who was asked to attend an art and culture exchange meeting to be held next year at a French university, an illustration artist who received a job offer during the exhibition, and a modeling artist who established connections with Parisian gallerists in the wake of information dissemination on SNS.

“My dream is to hold a solo exhibition in Japan one day!” There were also many voices showing strong interest in the Japanese art scene, such as artists from neighboring galleries that made their eyes shine, and gallerists who said, “Now that we have decided to establish a new gallery, we definitely want to exhibit works by Japanese artists there.”
During the 3 days spent with talented works by artists active at the forefront of various countries, mainly in France, many friendships were born between artists who have crossed national borders, and many voices have been heard that the stimulation they received there led to their motivation for the next production.
A boom in Japanese culture is happening in Paris
In 2018, in France, to commemorate 160 years of friendship between Japan and France, a large-scale cultural and arts event “Japonism 2018: Resonance of Souls” is being held to introduce “the appeal of Japanese culture still unknown to the world.” While “Japanese culture” is showing unprecedented excitement in Paris, the capital of art, it can be said that a number of unique Japanese art shown at Salon Art Shopping Paris this time made a great contribution to disseminating the diverse appeal of Japanese culture and the refined sense of beauty that continues to be passed down.
