The venue is the tourist information center “Moshi Moshi Box” in Harajuku, Tokyo. In addition to introducing recommended tourist spots, we also provide useful information about staying in Japan, from how to eat sushi well to Harajuku's latest entertainment. For foreign tourists, it is a spot that can be said to be an information center for Japanese culture as a whole.

The “Ichimonji Calligraphy Workshop” was held on Saturday, December 17th. The lecturer was a calligrapher Reibu (Reibu), who creates various works of art centered around calligraphy he has learned since age 9. He is an artist currently in the spotlight who is actively working on activities that place emphasis on “experience, experience, and conversation,” such as workshops and live performances at home and abroad in parallel with his own production activities.

The workshop started with a “meditation” experience unique to Reisei, who values the history and spirituality of calligraphy. The participants, who adjusted their breathing and enjoyed the “quiet” time that modern people tend to forget while carefully facing their own mind and body, showed fresh surprise and a relaxed expression.

After the meditation, participants were asked to write the words that came to mind right then and there.
The Norwegian international student and the host family, who love Japanese culture, enjoyed the workshop with a smile from beginning to end by writing and spelling one letter filled with their feelings of “qi,” “warmth,” and “new,” and showing them to each other. An international student woman who is returning to Norway for the beginning of the year takes this day's calligraphy as a souvenir for her family! I talked about it in a happy manner.
Also, the newlywed couple, who took a pre-wedding photo just before the workshop, chose characters suitable for a new start: “Nozomi” for their husband and “Ayumu” for their wife. Their happy smiles brought a moment of serenity and kindness to the moshi box.

And the youngest participant this time was a 5-year-old girl (participating with her mother and older sister). They also worked hard on meditation, and after that, they completed the characters for “friend” full of energy.

Once the work was completed, a valuable message from Reio called “the essence of that person seen from the image of the characters” also popped out. Everyone was listening attentively, albeit with different reactions, such as people nodding loudly at Reio's words, and people showing expressions mixed with surprise and joy as if they had discovered a new self.

Even after that, until it was time for the workshop to end, people constantly visited the Moshi Box and it was bustling.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of Harajuku, the moshi box overflowed with the gentle smiles of participants who faced themselves through calligraphy.
