Gallerist comments
We were blessed with the joy of joy Sumiyoshi Konan's works at this gallery.
It is a pleasure for me that she came to Paris on this occasion and was able to meet her. Not only that, but I was also able to get a direct introduction to her work from her.
She taught learning calligraphy when she was 9 years old. In addition to that, apparently, you can also see comic expressions drawn using a very modern method. These two culture intersect in the work.
A number of memorable comic works are on display in this exhibition. The characters and animals have a strong presence and give the impression that they appeared to pop out of the frame of the painting. For example, the work of a tiger jumping through a bamboo grove with a bear on its back is one of the most impressive ones.
The visit to this exhibition is full of aesthetic pleasure.
