Held at the Louvre! An art festival
Art Shopping Paris, which is held regularly twice a year in spring and fall, is an art fair that has continued for over 18 years. This year's fall festival was held in conjunction with “Paris Art Week,” where international level art events were held all over Paris, and combined with the afterglow of the Olympics, it was an exhibition open to more people than normal.

The opening party reached its capacity limit
A long time ago, in France, the opening party was called a “vernissage,” due to the tradition of applying varnish (vernis) to finish oil paintings. At the same time as the opening at 20:00 on the 18th (Friday), so many invited guests gathered that it was difficult to walk straight through the venue, and it was filled with great enthusiasm.
One of the major purposes of Vernissage is to check the exhibited works one step ahead of the general public. There were also people who quickly found their favorite works and bought them.

Reactions unique to France
Our corporation developed a booth in front of the entrance and in a section facing the main aisle this year as well. Along with the works of a total of 107 artists, Japan art had a strong presence.
The day it is open to the public on the second day after dawn is a time where visitors can slowly examine the works. In recent years, there has been an increase in Japan enthusiasts in France, and it was impressive that not only works created using traditional techniques such as calligraphy and embroidery, but also the Japanese uniqueness hidden in modern works were captured and viewed with interest.

Comments from fair organizers and art critics
Whether they are familiar with art or not, the characteristic of French art fair visitors is that they can convey what they feel in words. I can honestly understand how it looks from a different point of view from Japanese fans.
Also, the fair organizers selected works they particularly liked from their long-standing cooperative relationship, and it was an opportunity to receive drumming reviews from professionals who have seen countless works of art along with comments such as “I was struck by the moment I saw it” and “it is a very dynamic and powerful work.”
During the exhibition, there is also time for art critics who come to individually comment on the works. There were also exhibitors who said they were able to gain food for future artist activities.

“Art Shopping Paris 2024 (fall)” was an opportunity for many people to see multifaceted Japanese art this year as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of encounters they will have next year.
