Japan Festival held in Davos, Europe's central city

Davos

The festival “JapanManga Night” for Japanese fans will be held at the Congress Center (Davos Congress Centre), which is used as a venue for the International Economic Forum, commonly known as the “Davos Conference,” where celebrities and politicians from around the world gather.
Davos has a reputation for its scenic scenery and beautiful air, and the hotel industry has developed since ancient times, such as the establishment of respiratory sanatoriums. Currently, it is one of the most popular locations in Europe, with facilities such as hotels, shops, restaurants, bars, discos, and event halls, as a ski resort in winter and as a mountain resort where you can enjoy summer vacations and mountain climbing.

Rapid growth with support from the Swiss government, growing in scale year by year

“JapanManga Night,” which will be in its 18th year in 2018, began when only about 40 people gathered to watch Japanese anime and enjoy games.
In addition to Switzerland, the number of participants from Germany and Austria increased year by year, and along with that, the venue was moved to a larger venue, and now the scale continues to expand while receiving support from Davos City and Swiss government agencies, and the number of visitors is expected to reach 10,000 this year.

2018 will be held for 3 days from 5/25 (Fri) to 27 (Sun)

The concept of “JapanManga Night” is not limited to the anime/manga listed in the event name,

◎ To correctly introduce real Japan and Japanese culture in many fields and fields.
◎ To warmly welcome all people who intend to cooperate and participate in the project, and expand knowledge connections centered on Japanese culture.
◎ To be a platform connecting various things between tradition and modernity, Japanese enthusiasts and beginners, young to mature, Switzerland and Japan.

A wide range of programs have been planned and selected, such as Japanese food, martial arts, traditional performing arts, attracting regional tourism, and traditional crafts, in line with the above three purposes.
Also, starting in 2018, it has been decided that Japan Promotion (company), which provides Japanese cultural content at festivals around the world based on the concept of “real things,” will produce the traditional and regional culture pavilion “A-MA-NE,” and further enhancements are expected.

The pavilion “Ya A-MA-NE” produced by Japan Promotion (company) as an official partner of the festival, exhibits and sells arts and crafts that make use of traditional techniques, introduces local government efforts, local exchanges, and plans various traditional performing arts shows and art stages.
We named the pavilion “Amane” because we wanted to provide people with a place to experience the traditions that Japan is proud of and the culture rooted in the region.
Also, the kanji for “ya” has the meaning of “development” or “progress.”
The traditional and regional culture pavilion “A-MA-NE” will fully disseminate the appeal of Japanese culture as much as possible to become a place to further promote the vibrant friendship between Japanese and Swiss culture in culture and economy.

The official logo for “A-MA-NE,” a traditional and regional culture pavilion produced by Japan Promotion, has been completed. The design effectively uses red and white, which are the colors that symbolize Switzerland and Japan, and the cross and the Hinomaru, and incorporates wishes for development and goodwill between the two countries. The meaning of the kanji for “, who extends to everything without omission,” is expressed in a three-dimensional design.
