It will be held again this year in London, which is gorgeous in the Christmas mood
From 2016/11/25 (Friday) to 27 (Sun), the UK's largest Japanese cultural event “Hyper Japan Christmas Market” was held in London, England, where the Christmas mood was heightened.
This event has been held every year since 2010, on the stage of a tobacco dock located in east London, which has been attracting attention as a new fashion spot in recent years. Various cultures nurtured in Japan, such as Japanese food, crafts, art, fashion, technology, games, anime/manga, etc., met in one place, and it was crowded with many people regardless of age or gender this year.
A large number of enthusiastic Japanese fans visited
Over the course of 3 days, many Japanese fans gathered at the venue not only from England but also from surrounding countries.
While feeling Japanese culture from the past, the East, and the West firsthand, visitors were seen all over the venue, shining their eyes on high-quality Japanese items that can only be found here. Also, authentic Japanese flavors such as yakisoba and oyakodon (very popular with Japanese staff!) It also seems to have won the hearts of visiting Londoners. There was a long line at the Japanese sake booth, which is currently attracting attention in Europe as a new toast drink to replace champagne, and there was a lot of excitement.

Strong sales at the traditional culture pavilion “MIYABI”
What attracted attention for creating a particularly high-quality space within the venue was Japan Promotion Management'sTraditional Culture Pavilion “MIYABI”That's it. The booth area has also expanded since last year, and not only the staple calligraphy and kokeshi dolls that are popular overseas, but also exquisite items that can only be obtained at MIYABI, such as obi art, and exquisitely made metal engraving accessories, fascinated visiting Japanese fans one after another. There is also the Christmas season, so many visitors come looking for gifts that are a bit different from others, and purchases have been made one after another.
On the stage inside the pavilion, talented performers such as “mythical pop” singer Ecotsumi, Hayabusa & Iwasa Misaki, who can listen to the heart and enka of Japan with a fresh appeal, and Haruki Rizakura, who are popular for her dynamic calligraphy performances and adorable looks, set up an exciting stage. Also, various demonstration programs, such as demonstrations of knob craftsmanship, porcelain dyeing, and installations by obi artists, attracted a lot of attention, and many voices of praise were received for the high technical capabilities unique to Japan.

Major figures in the British art world also visited and praised Japanese technology
James Horton, president of The Royal Society of British Artists (Royal Society of British Artists), visited MIYABI on the first day of the exhibition. They carefully watched all the booths in the pavilion and expressed their impressions with enthusiasm. Mr. Horton, who seemed moved by the good quality of the exhibited works, revealed his strong interest by asking questions one after another to the artists visiting the site, leading up to the production process, methods, and materials.
Other than that, there were movements that spur artists' activities in aspects other than selling works, such as receiving offers of coverage from BBC program producers to MIYABI exhibitors.

Hyper Japan and MIYABI continue to level up year by year.
Please look forward to a further leap forward next year and beyond.
