Giving shape to “things that cannot be put into words” — Mr. Tomoyuki Hirai holds solo exhibition in New York
A solo exhibition by artist Tomoyuki Hirai was held in the Tribeca district of New York, which has been attracting attention as a new hub for the art scene in recent years. The venue was the local gallery “One Art Space Gallery,” which has handled many exhibitions. The exhibition in New York, the mecca of contemporary art, not only connected many people through the work, but also created close exchanges with local collectors and cultural stakeholders.

The cutting edge of art in New York and Tribeca

One Art Space Gallery (One Art Space Gallery) is a gallery located in Tribeca, New York.
Along with Chelsea, Soho, and the Lower East Side, Tribeca is one of the notable areas supporting the New York art scene. It's a city full of diversity and energy, where you can encounter works of a wide range of genres, from contemporary art masterpieces to street art.

Above all, Tribeca once developed as a business district next to Wall Street, and now it is also known as an upscale residential area due to its easy access to central Manhattan and its calm environment. Many wealthy people, such as Hollywood celebrities and famous creators, live in this area, and stylish shops, famous restaurants, and cafes have been expanding one after another in recent years.

Furthermore, many art spaces have begun to gather in Tribeca in the wake of the relocation of famous galleries, and it is attracting attention as a “city of art for the next generation.”

Depict “unspeakable emotions”

In April 2023, after two and a half years of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hirai Tomoyuki's solo exhibition “Deep Thoughts Deep Within” was held at One Art Space Gallery.

Mr. Hirai is an artist who uses his own techniques to visualize indescribable emotions — “something without form” born in the depths of the heart.
By combining different materials such as modeling paste and gauze, with a focus on oil paint, we give the screen a rich texture and three-dimensional effect. By adding his unique sense of color to that, the work takes on “substance” as if breathing, and appears in front of the viewer.

Mr. Hirai says, “I express it with pictures because it's something I can't put into words.”
The works reflecting that feeling quietly and profoundly shook the hearts and imaginations of New Yorkers who have gone through the pandemic.

A special time where close interaction with collectors was born

This solo exhibition also gave me a valuable opportunity to connect deeply with visitors through my work.

What was particularly impressive was the invitation from an art collector couple living in Tribeca. In a luxurious apartment with a panoramic view of the Brooklyn Bridge, Mr. Tomoyuki Hirai talked with his wife and their friends about art and Japanese culture with a glass of champagne in hand.

The night when a dialogue that transcends culture, unique to the cosmopolitan city of New York, was born was an unforgettable moment for artists.

Also, many enthusiastic responses were received from the audience who visited the solo exhibition.
Here are just a few:

“Mysterious and evocative colors”
“I like curating works”
“All of the works on display were interesting. They all stood out.”
“The exhibition had a great atmosphere. I'm so happy to be able to see this beautiful work.”
“If I have another chance to exhibit in New York next time, please let me know.”

The exhibition will remain deeply in the hearts of visitors, and expectations for the next event are growing.
