An art experience where soul and philosophy intersect

In April 2023, the solo exhibition “When Spontaneous Symmetry Is Broken” by Mr. Toshiaki Iwata was held at One Art Space Gallery in Tribeca, New York, where the long silence due to the COVID-19 pandemic has finally come to an end.

Regardless of the art materials such as oil paintings, watercolors, and pastels, Mr. Iwata creates works with strength that can be said to be endless, against the backdrop of a wide range of philosophies, from the Buddhist Code to the Old Testament. Over 30 works condensing this world of expression were exhibited in New York, the city of art that transcends the Pacific Ocean.

It is a group of works that skillfully “contrast” the “opposite” elements such as painting and architecture, flat and three-dimensional, straight lines and curves, inorganic matter and organic matter, eternity and moment. I asked for a reunion with someone I have a “relationship” engraved in my soul that I cannot meet in everyday life.

The five days full of anticipation for the creation of a new world that will begin there will remain in the memory of all who visited.
