The art fair “World Art Dubai (World Art Dubai)” is held every spring at the historic exhibition center “Dubai World Trade Center” in the cosmopolitan city of Dubai. This year, we celebrated our 10th anniversary. Every year, our corporation, which is responsible for exhibiting from Japan as an organizer partner, has developed the largest area “JAPAN TIDE” and conveyed the appeal of Japanese art to the world. I will immediately deliver a 5-day scene filled with various encounters, with a focus on art!

Continuing to evolve, and it's finally the 10th anniversary
World Art Dubai has now reached its anniversary year. At the entrance of the venue, a gate that makes you feel the accumulation from the 1st session appeared. Once you pass through entrance security, a large venue with 3 international exhibition halls connected together will expand. As the catchphrase “Where world's art comes together (where art from around the world gathers),” works by galleries and artists from around the world were lined up at over 300 booths, and visitors were welcomed.

In search of new communication
Every year, this event continues to try new things to make it a better art fair. This year, a “VIP preview” was held the night before the exhibition began, and it was an opportunity for a plus alpha encounter. Furthermore, in addition to the main stage in the center of the venue, a performance zone also appeared on the central aisle. The event was enlivened with a live performance involving people coming and going in the venue.
Well, what kind of gimmicks await next year?

The common language is “I like art”
Starting from within the UAE, Russia, France, Latvia, India, China... international visitors, gallerists, artists, etc. gathered again this year at World Art Dubai, which has accumulated 10 years of experience. At this place, I get to know how people with diverse cultural backgrounds look at art, and then talk about their own works. We received feedback from many artists who have traveled all the way to Dubai, saying “it was a great learning experience” and “it was a valuable experience.”

“Japan Art,” which gave off a unique appeal
This time, too, the Japanese art zone “JAPAN TIDE (Japan Tide)” was set up near the entrance of the venue. At a total booth of 177 square meters, we presented Japanese art to the world with a total of 53 groups of artists.
The approximately 280 works exhibited at the venue are diverse, from antiques that make full use of traditional techniques boasting a history of over 1000 years to digital art depicting “now” with a pop impression. A businessman from Switzerland and living in Dubai said, “I've been to this event every day for the past 3 days, but I've only been to this zone 3 times. They received generous praise for their unique sense and expression, saying, “It's really original and impressive.”

Five days of “once-in-a-lifetime meetings”
The works that were sold also ranged from traditional crafts to conceptual art. Because the visitors are diverse, their values, what they are looking for, and what “sticks” are also very different. There were people who carefully listened to the production background and techniques, and then made a purchase decision after careful consideration, and others said, “I felt the strongest energy from this work in the venue!” There are also people who buy it with a quick decision, like love at first sight.
It was an exciting 5 days with encounters that can only be born here.

Next year, World Art Dubai aims to be even more powerful. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of encounters await next time.
