“Space Meets Art” 2nd solo exhibition “Resistance” by artist Takahiro

What is “Space Meets Art”

Japan Promotion, an incorporated association, manages domestic and international events and exhibitions with the aim of supporting the global activities of those responsible for the “now” of the Japanese arts and culture world. As part of that, this project “Space Meets Art” started in September 2021. A number of attractive and powerful works by Japanese artists are introduced in Shibuya, the epicenter of fashion.

Exhibition space

The venue for this project is Shibuya Stream Excel Hotel Tokyu (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which is also known as a mecca for creative workers. A modern and stylish bar lounge and guest rooms with a vintage modern concept. The atmosphere is heartwarming, inspired by the image of a “space where creators live.”

Exhibit content

This time, which is the second installment of “Space Meets Art,” 15 works by artist Takahiro, who express the power of “words” in pop and graphically, and continue to disseminate them, will be shown.
Takahiro learned about Picasso's view of life and death when he was a child, was impressed by cubism and surrealism, and drew pictures on his own.

In this solo exhibition entitled “Resistance,” a group of works composed of vivid colors and words drawn with energetic handwriting will leave us an exciting time that we will never forget.

[Takahiro]
Lives in Okinawa. When I was a child, I saw Picasso's paintings and learned about life and death, and was impressed by works and ideas from Cubism and Surrealism, etc., and began drawing pictures by myself. After a few years, he worked as a graffiti artist. A psychedelic noise band was formed around the same time, and musical activities also began. While touring around the country, supports are transferred from wall surfaces to canvases, panels, etc. He continues to create art works by reconstructing metaphors of words cultivated through graffiti art.
