Japan Promotion continued to participate in the same event in 2016 and 2017. We operate “JAPAN ZONE,” a booth specializing in Japanese art, which is the largest in the hall, and introduces a wide variety of works to art fans visiting from all over the world.
In this article, I'll introduce the 18th (Wednesday), which just arrived from Dubai, where the event is currently being held!
Please take a look at the exciting local scene from the first day of the event, such as VIP visitors and the glamorous stage.

VIPs are coming to the opening one after another

Right after opening, a number of people involved in art and local VIPs were seen at the venue, where artists and gallerists from various countries dressed up gorgeously await.
Mr. Buti Al Saeed Al Ghandi, who serves as a director of the Dubai World Trade Center, which was the venue, also visited for inspection, and while exchanging questions about the background and techniques of each work, his eyes shone brightly at the colorful art that filled the venue.
Buti and his colleagues also visited the Japanese art specialty booth “JAPAN ZONE” operated by Japan Promotion. It seems that they thoroughly appreciated the works they were interested in, and enjoyed the diverse appeal of Japanese art, such as speaking to the exhibiting artists who greeted them at the booth.

The man in the center of the photo is a Japanese Instagrammer nicknamed “Mansour.” As a cultural figure who skillfully manipulates Arabic with a local accent and introduces the respective cultures of the UAE and Japan, he is currently a popular person with over 50,000 followers, mainly in the UAE.
On this day, too, Mr. Mansour introduced a number of sophisticated art works by Japanese artists to Buti Al Saeed Al Ghandi, and at the same time posted the situation on Instagram and delivered them to fans around the world.

Japanese art that art fans from all over the world are paying attention to

From day one, many people visited JAPAN ZONE and showed interest in a number of diverse works.
There are approximately 300 pieces of Japanese art in a wide variety, from works that are extremely traditional in the good old days to innovative works using new techniques and materials.
There are also many scenes where visitors who have shown interest in the work are directly asked questions to the participating artists, and intense cultural exchanges are quickly born here and there.
On the first day, beautiful photographic works focusing on Japanese maiko culture, woodblock prints designed by beautiful Ukiyo-e women, and fashion items with a focus on materials were handed to buyers.
Also, multiple business negotiations have already occurred from overseas galleries to artists exhibiting at JAPAN ZONE, so it's off to a smooth start.

There is also a gorgeous stage by Japanese artists

On the night of the same day, performances and participatory workshops will also be held by calligraphy artists with rich personalities, including the calligrapher and painter: Mr. Rei Qing, who is popular for his worldview that combines tradition and innovation with a unique sensibility.
The spectacular performance, which was dynamic yet imbued with a sense of dignity and spirituality unique to Japan, instantly captivated the packed audience.

In the workshop that follows, there are 3 zones where you can experience the fun of Japanese arts and culture, such as colorful calligraphy using paint, traditional ink painting, and origami.
There was a constant stream of visitors who wanted to participate, and the venue was very crowded.

The participants genuinely enjoyed the expressions unique to Japanese art. After the experience, I said “Thank you!” in Japanese to the artists who served as lecturers There were many people who conveyed words of gratitude, and many smiles bloomed at the venue.

Japanese translation (summary):
“Oriental magic”
I visited the Japan booth, which is an annual event. JAPAN ZONE occupies the largest area in “World Art Dubai.” Visiting JAPAN ZONE is a special part of a tour around the World Art Dubai booth.
Every time they visit, visitors can learn about various arts from Japanese culture, which combines tradition and modernity. What I paid attention to in JAPAN ZONE this time was a female ceramic artist. Her work is unique in its aesthetics of color and form, inspired by the colors used in old paintings, such as precious platinum.

The session ends on 21st (Sat). Further results will be reported on this site after completion. Please stay tuned!
