From 2017/9/9 (Sat) to 16 (Sat), the Toyama-Ishikawa traditional crafts exhibition “JAPAN TIDE Exhibition -A Showcase of Japanese Craftsmanship-” will open at the “Art Hub Dubai Gallery” in the Dubai Design District, United Arab Emirates.
This exhibition is an ongoing Japanese culture dissemination project in the Middle East”JAPAN TIDE (Japan Tide)It was implemented as a program of”. We expect visitors from a wide range of people, from government officials to young fans of J-pop culture.
Hosted by Mr. Shimizu Yutaro (representative of Cute Eikokuya), who runs a bridal business in Toyama City, calls were made through a regional network, and 26 groups of companies, craftsmen, and artists involved in traditional industries in Toyama and Ishikawa prefectures gathered.

They also traveled a lot from Japan and showed off the best of traditional techniques

A presentation event for the launch of JAPAN TIDE 2017 was also held here at Art Hub Dubai Gallery (4/6-8).
In the Hokuriku region, craft promotion has been promoted over 420 years by successive feudal lords, and excellent traditional culture has been passed down from generation to generation.
In 2009, Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture was the first in the world to be certified as a UNESCO Craft Creation City.
In this exhibition, in addition to Inami carvings, which were well received at the Emirates Palace exhibition held in Abu Dhabi in 2015, masterpieces selected from various genres, such as Takaoka copperware, Kutaniyaki, Wajima lacquerware, silver gold products, kimonos, and accessories, will be exhibited and sold.

When disseminating local traditional industries to the world, Mr. Yutaro Shimizu said, “We want to introduce traditional Japanese culture and new culture to everyone in the near-future city of Dubai, and we are doing our best. Using this as a stepping stone, I hope that exchanges between the two countries will be deeper than they are now,” he said enthusiastically.
Many craftsmen and artists from Japan will also attend the opening ceremony on the first day, 9/9 (Sat), and there will be live traditional music (koto, Japanese drum performances), mizubiki art demonstrations, documentary screenings, gallery talks, and exchange meetings.
